How can I book an appointment for a piercing or jewelry change?

We accept piercing appointments over the phone. For over the phone appointments you must arrive for your appointment at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to complete paperwork and pick out jewelry. YOU MUST HAVE A VALID GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID TO COMPLETE PAPERWORK.

What are the age requirements for getting a piercing?

You MUST be 18 years of age with a valid government issued ID present to be pierced. Some piercings can be done on minors, but not all of them. Minors that are 16 years of age and up can get the following piercings if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, with proper identification: nostril, navel, eyebrow and outer ear cartilage. Proper identification is any government issued photo ID for BOTH the guardian AND the minor as well as proof of guardianship (i.e. birth certificate). Earlobe piercings can be done on children ages 5 and up with government issued photo ID for the parent or guardian and birth certificate of the minor. Owen is the only piercer who currently offers earlobe piercings on minors under 16 years old. Please call the shop to make sure that he is the piercer on duty if you would like to have your child's earlobes pierced.

What is the cancelation/deposit policy for making a tattoo appointment?

To book a tattoo appointment you need to leave a $100 deposit that goes towards the cost of the tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable.

To reschedule or cancel the appointment you must contact the shop DIRECTLY during business hours (NOT through email). Cancelation of your appointment results in forfeiture of your deposit. Clients who wish to reschedule must do so with a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to their tattoo appointment. Canceling or rescheduling an appointment with less than 48 hours notice will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

Clients who reschedule with 48 hours notice can use their deposit but cannot get a refund. A new appointment must be booked within 90 days of the original appointment. Not rescheduling within 90 days of the original appointment will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

What are the age requirements to get a tattoo?

By law, you must be 18 years old with a valid government issued photo ID to be tattooed in Massachusetts; there are NO exceptions.

Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Yes. The amount it hurts varies from person to person and depends on different details like size and location. Being well rested, well fed, hydrated and in good health makes getting tattooed a lot easier. Taking painkillers before your tattoo appointment will not help with pain, rather, it will act as a blood thinner and introduce potential for complications during the tattoo and healing process. The most important thing is to try not to stress too much about it, it’s really not as bad as your imagination leads you to believe.

How much do tattoos cost?

The shop minimum price for a tattoo is $100. Thereafter, the price of a tattoo varies based on many factors, i.e.: size, location and amount of time it will take. For more specific pricing estimates feel free to stop by the shop with your tattoo idea. WE CANNOT GIVE YOU ACCURATE TATTOO PRICING ON THE PHONE OR VIA EMAIL. For piercing prices click HERE

How should I prepare for getting a tattoo?

Want your tattoo artist to love you? Wash and shave the part of your body where the tattoo will go. Being hydrated and having food in your stomach makes getting tattooed much easier. You may want to bring a drink or snack with you to help replenish your blood sugar for longer sittings. NO ALCOHOL. Any clients under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be tattooed or pierced.

What forms of payment does Chameleon accept?

Though cash is preferred, Chameleon does accept all major credit cards. Gift certificates are also available and can be used toward the cost of tattoos, body piercing, and body jewelry. We do not accept checks.

Do I need a consultation?

If you are getting a larger or multi-sitting tattoo that requires a significant amount of drawing time for the artist, you should set up a consultation appointment. A consultation appointment is a free half hour appointment in which you and the artist work out the details of your tattoo. If you are unsure whether or not you need a consultation, call the shop and we'll help you figure it out.
